Topographic Maps in the Ozuna Library: Library Atlas Resources

This guide is an introduction to finding maps and cartographic information about various regions of Texas

What is an atlas?

An atlas is defined as a bound collection of maps, charts, plates or tables illustrating a subject.  In addition to being about geography, they can illustrate any number of subjects, from anatomy or botany to history or zoology.

Atlases are used in a variety of contexts, most commonly for geographical studies, navigation and education.  They can also be used in other fields like science and history.

Atlas Case

The Ozuna Library holds a vast atlas collection.  An atlas stand is located in the west end of the 2nd floor in the Ozuna Library building and additional atlases are located in the stacks.
