Study Room Guidelines for the Ozuna Library
Purpose of the Study Rooms
Study rooms are to be used for studying, course-related work, or quiet activities. Any activities that disturb others or violate the Alamo Colleges District Code of Conduct are prohibited. As a reminder, all study rooms are monitored by video surveillance.
Study Room Checkout Requirements
Study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are permitted.
The patron checking out the study room is responsible for the following:
To ensure that the study room adequately supports the size of the group, all group members must be present to check out the study room; otherwise, we will need to check out a room suitable for the group size present at checkout.
A valid ID will be required at checkout. If you do not yet have a valid ID, you may obtain one on campus at the Student Center, Room 124.
Every student should have access to study rooms, so beginning this semester, renewals and/or extensions will be determined by library staff on a case-by-case basis during high-volume hours (listed below).
High volume hours are Monday – Thursday, 9 AM – 2 PM.
The patron will be placed on a waiting list if the requested study room size is checked out. Library staff will call the patron when the requested study room size becomes available. The patron will be given 15 minutes to check out the study room before it is offered to the next patron.
The patron will be charged a replacement fee for study room bags and their contents if not returned. A registration transcript and library hold will be placed on the student account. The IDs for non-Alamo College patrons will be given to Alamo Colleges Police Department if study room bags are not returned.
Study Room Etiquette
1. Since the study rooms are not soundproof, please be considerate of others using the library and the study rooms next to you by maintaining a moderate to low volume of noise at all times.
2. Lying down or sleeping on the floor, on the chairs, and/or under the study room tables is not permitted.
3. Food, snacks, or open drinks are not permitted due to the possibility of spills and/or insect infestations.
4. Please keep all snacks or meals safely stored, sealed, and out of sight.
5. Tampering with HDMI cables or devices behind the screen in the study rooms is not permitted. Please use the ScreenBeam Guide placed on the table in the study room for instructions on how to connect devices or ask an employee for assistance.
6. Please do not leave the study room unattended for more than 15 minutes. When exiting at any time, please lock the study room.
7. All occupants in the study rooms are expected to abide by the Alamo Colleges District Code of Conduct.
Students using study rooms must always abide by the posted study room etiquette. Failure to comply may result in a loss of library privileges.
