The AAPT (American Association of Philosophy Teachers) is dedicated to the advancement of the art of teaching philosophy.

The American Philosophical Association was founded in 1900 to promote the exchange of ideas among philosophers, to encourage creative and scholarly activity in philosophy, to facilitate the professional work and teaching of philosophers, and to represent philosophy as a discipline.

The American Philosophical Society, the oldest learned society in the United States, was founded in 1743 by Benjamin Franklin for the purpose of “promoting useful knowledge.”  The American Philosophical Society’s current activities reflect the founder’s spirit of inquiry, provide a forum for the free exchange of ideas, and convey our conviction that intellectual inquiry and critical thought are inherently in the best interest of the public.

Ordinary Philosophy is dedicated to philosophy in the public square and the history of ideas that change the world. This forum for ideas is founded on the belief that philosophy is an eminently useful endeavor as well as a fascinating and beautiful one; that citizen philosophers and academic philosophers alike share in making it so; and that the legacy of human thought, short of the universe itself, is our most valuable resource.

International Societies

The Aristotelian Society, founded in 1880, meets fortnightly in London to hear and discuss talks given by leading philosophers.

The Society's newest publication - the Virtual Issue - features classic papers from our archives and commentaries from contemporary philosophers.

Founded in 1976, the Ethics and Public Policy Center is Washington, D.C.’s premier institute dedicated to applying the Judeo-Christian moral tradition to critical issues of public policy. From the Cold War to the war on terrorism, from disputes over the role of religion in public life to battles over the nature of the family, EPPC and its scholars have consistently sought to defend and promote our nation’s founding principles—respect for the inherent dignity of the human person, individual freedom and responsibility, justice, the rule of law, and limited government.

Since 1925 the Royal Institute has been dedicated to the advancement of philosophy. Each year we sponsor hundreds of free, open philosophy events, bring critical thinking to more than a thousand young people in schools, publish books, journals, and videos -- and much more.

The Philosophy Foundation is an innovative, dynamic and unique educational charity whose aim is to bring philosophy to schools and the wider community. Through doing philosophy in the classroom our primary concern is to improve educational opportunities for the disadvantaged: our work develops speaking and listening skills vital for literacy and emotional development, helps children who find it difficult to access other classes, and encourages critical and creative thinking essential in the 21st Century.
