Library Resources in Canvas: Databases from the Ozuna Library

The library offers a robust collection of single subject and multi-disciplinary databases that provide access to offer an extensive collection of articles from periodicals and much more.   Topics range from current events to history to science.  This guide provides instructions for adding database materials into Canvas.  Please note that upload instructions may vary according to specifications from the individual database companies.

Academic One File (Gale)

Add Material to a Module

  1. Contact Tosca Gonsalves (tgonsalves@alamo.edu) to let her know you want to embed articles from a Gale Database. She will add you to her special "course" so that you can import content from there.
  2. Log into Canvas and select the class where material will be added
  3. Go to Settings
  4. In the right hand column, click on "Import Course Content"
  5. Under Import Content and select "Copy a Canvas Course"
  6. Select the course "PAC Library - Gale Resources"
  7. Select "Select specific content"
  8. Next to the Course Copy under Current Jobs, click on "Select Content" and select the database you want (Currently the only option available is "Gale Academic OneFile") - it will take a bit of time before the content is available
  9. Click + in the Module/Assignment where the articles to be added and name the assignment
  10. Click the  Edit > Apps button in the text editor (looks like plug in cord icon)
  11. Gale Academic OneFile 
  12. Search for, select and preview an article
  13. Click Embed Document button
  14. Save>Publish
