Lending Procedures

Material Loan Periods

Alamo Colleges Students: 21 days non-media /21days media(Limit 15items/5 max media)

Alamo Colleges Faculty/Staff: 30 days non-media / 30 days media(Limit 15items/5 max media)

Texshare Visitors: 14 days non-media and media (Limit 5items)

Interlibrary Loan: 30 days non-media and media (Limit 10 items/5 max media)

Alamo College Students, Faculty, and Staff are required to present a valid Alamo Colleges ID to check out materials.

Non-Alamo College Students/Faculty/ Staff must present a TexShare card from the home college, university, or public library and a photo ID.

Alamo Colleges specialized program students must present current corresponding ID cards and photo ID.

Technology/equipment checkout policies vary. Please refer to corresponding policies.

Overdue Fines:

There are currently no overdue fines.

Lost or damaged materials replacement costs plus a $10.00 processing fee per item

Renewals: All items, except Reserve items, can be renewed three times if there is not a hold on the item for someone else. Items that are not overdue items may be renewed in person, online paclibrary.on.worldcat.org/discovery (Sign in with ACES and choose “my Account” under Account Details) or by phone (210) 486-3555.

Overdue items can only be renewed in person and fines must be paid.

Return materials to the Circulation Desk or Book Drops.

Non-Circulating: Magazines, journals, newspapers and some Reference materials are not available for check out.

Privileges: Patrons with overdue materials or outstanding fines lose their privilege to borrow other materials, including Reserve materials, and they may not use the Interlibrary Loan service until materials are returned and/or fines are paid.

Library Conduct

Conduct in the Library

All patrons are expected to follow Student Code of Conduct located in the Student Handbook when in the library. Library staff will determine the degree of response for any unacceptable behavior or violation of college/district policies and procedures including contacting campus police.In addition, library staff will enforce the following library rules

Disruptive activity/behavior in the library is not allowed. (ex: loud talking, high volume on devices,

Covered drinks and small snacks* are allowed in the library.

Talking on a cell phone is allowed in the Cell Phone Zone.Patrons violating these rules will be asked to stop the activity/behavior immediately. If the behavior continues, the patron will be asked to leave the library for the day. Additional violation of the rules will result in disciplinary action including loss of library privileges.

Library Study Room Procedures

Library Study Rooms

Availability

Library study rooms for single use or for groups are available on a first come, first serve basis to current Alamo Colleges students only.

All study rooms will remain locked when not in use.

Requirements

Alamo Colleges students may check out a study room for up to 2 ours.

All study rooms must be vacated 15 minutes prior to library closing time.

Only covered drinks are allowed in the study rooms. No food or drinks are allowed in the Microscopic study room.

Reserving Study Rooms

All study rooms must be requested at the Circulation Desk. A current Alamo Colleges ID is required for room usage. A key box will be checked out to patron. Late fees are charged to the student record if the key box is not turned in on time. If there is not another reservation for the room past the check-out time, the student/group can recheck out the room for an additional two hours. No automatic extensions of time are allowed.

Disciplinary Action

Any inappropriate/disruptive behavior, including bringing in food items, in the study rooms will result in the ejection of the student(s) from the library.

Usage Statistics

Usage statistics for study rooms are maintained by Access Services.

Study Room Guidelines

Rooms are for individual/group study or course-related work only.Covered drinks are allowed. Please recycle and dispose of trash properly. Personal belongings should not be left unattended.For your protection, surveillance cameras are in use
